My 21st Birthday; Let’s Celebrate!

It’s my birthday, its my birthday! 21, a milestone birthday. So, what happened?

So, it’s the 10th of March, my 21st birthday and I feel so grown up, when I wish in a way I wasn’t! I’m sure many of us want to stay fairly young for as long as possible, and now in a few years I’ll be 30 haha! I know I’m slightly over exaggerating, but occasionally you just have very intense in-depth thoughts about life, age, past and future, you’re sometimes overcome with emotions, that it may even affect your big day. That’s exactly what happened last year.

Even though my 20th was a great birthday, the start of it wasn’t. I woke up feeling quite down and just aged. Your 20th isn’t supposed to be a milestone birthday but for me it felt huge, probably bigger than me turning 21. You’ve been a child/teenager for as long as you can remember then you’re pushed into the deep-end of being in your ’20’s’ You want the world to just stop for a second. And I felt quite a heavy burden on that huge change. I think a huge aspect of why I was feeling that way was because being a woman, and we tend to acknowledge and overanalyse our age progression. I had other thoughts going through my mind also on that birthday, quite negative thoughts, so I had a nap and knocked myself the hell out of it! The evening of that day was so much better as I had to put those troublesome thoughts of my mind. So I vowed to myself not to let my 21st be like that.

So I wake up on my 21st feeling a lot more confident than a year ago and being more self assured in myself. What better way to start of YOUR day of the year? I knew I was going to a fancy shmanzy restaurant in the evening but it was all gonna be a surprise, so for the rest of the day I just relaxed, watched a movie and ate till my heart was content!

So then I start getting ready to go to the ball – minor exaggeration or should I say a major one? Anyhoo, I thought I started early enough, but because I ordered something else to eat, I was a bit behind schedule; isn’t every girl always?. So I may have been a tad late to the restaurant reservation but trust me they weren’t packed thankfully, so we had no trouble finding a spot to sit. It was basically like a rooftop restaurant but I was inside the indoor part of the restaurant as it was quite windy and a little rainy. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to sit right by the floor to ceiling glass as I’d have to sit between tables, and I like eating in as much peace as possible haha introvert I am. So that was a tiny bummer but in the panoramic lift, you saw all the astounding views London has to offer!

I had some of the most incredible food the restaurant Mezemiso has a mixture of Japanese and Lebanese food, and it’s just such a lovely atmosphere that makes you feel so suave and ahh it’s just a place and memory I’ll never forget!

Starters… (silly me forgot to take photos of the main) The dish on the left looks like an I’m a celebrity bushtucker trial! If you’ve seen the show you know which one I’m talking about hehe. But it tasted absolutely gorgeous!

Then, to finish off the night we made our way to a rooftop bar, and since I don’t drink just had some refreshing mocktails and just chilled watching the picturesque sights of London at night.

This had to be one of the best birthdays I’ve ever had, if not the best. I’ll never forget it and it was just the best day of my life (I’ll let you know in a future post why…)!

How was your 21’st birthday? I’d love to know! Why do you think it was the best day of my life? Have you had any milestone birthdays recently? Can you relate to the certain feelings I’ve had prior? Comment Below!

  1. Belated happy birthday. It sounds like a wonderful night and glad you made it special. The journey is mostly ahead, just take the time to enjoy it. If I knew then what I know now, I would have started planning for now at age 21 – A little start now financially can pay big dividends in 30 years, ask someone you respect. That’s a big tip. – David

  2. Alas, I don’t really remember my 21st birthday, so it must not have been very memorable. But yours sounds both unforgettable and glamorous, which obviously is a direct reflection of who you are!

  3. Happy BELATED Birthday! You got to turn 21 right before the world closed down. I definitely remember my 21st bday…it was a long time ago lol I was in charge of opening a daycare, but I’d gotten too drunk the previous night and woke up hella late. Parents, the director, everyone was angry at me, and I was pretty embarrassed. They took the keys from me 😦
