Baubles, fairy lights, tinsel and festive decor; isn’t that what November is all about?! Christmas is finally here… what’s a month or two, give or take?
Once November hits, expect to see everything bedazzled! I’m not one of those that reserve indulging in festivities until a specified date; life is short! Christmas is my favourite season and I’m pretty sure I get seasonal/winter blues as soon as January hits, as I’m the literal, breathing example of the Christmas hit ‘I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday’ by Wizzard. Trust me, that would be my idea of heaven! But until then, I’ll savour each moment in the run up to the big day!
Now, if I decorate a real tree, I tend to leave tinsel off just due to wanting to display and show off the natural beauty within. Plus, it’s far easier and quicker, I can’t lie. Less is more personally, I think in that regard, additionally more decor you apply, the branches overtime begin to droop prematurely, it’s not only faster to decorate, but practical. With artificial trees, I usually partake in the belief that more is more. Normally, I place so much on the tree, it’s tackily eye-catching and pretty in it’s own way. Go big or go home! You name it, I’ve overdone it year in, year out.
But in 2024, I thought I’d switch it up! An artificial tree without the painstaking, unnecessary needles scattered within each square metre was calling my name this year. ‘We R Christmas’ kindly gifted everything included in this post, with the exception of the fairy lights I bought from Dunelm! I decided to go with a colour scheme this year and thought I’d better follow the ‘How To Decorate Your Christmas Tree Like A Professional‘ guide, loosely to get a festive red + gold tree!
Breakdown of items mentioned:
- 7ft Mixed Pine Christmas Tree – We R Christmas
- 1000 LED Multi Function Compact Chain Lights – Dunelm
- Red Shatterproof Baubles, 50 Pack – We R Christmas
- Christmas Gold Shatterproof Bauble, 50 Pack – We R Christmas
- Pre-Lit Bow Tree Topper, Red – We R Christmas
The tree was easy to set up, the stand was very easy to open out, possibly slightly too easy as it never felt stiff. The tree was split into three parts, labelled A, B and C. Thankfully this tree didn’t have hook-in, individual branches to fix into place which made it far quicker to set up. Artificial trees will always need a little extra TLC if you want it looking as fluffy and spruced as possible, by opening out and pulling down the compressed branches. Once that was over, I was good to go!
I tend to decorate the tree with lights at the very end, I know that’s highly peculiar but I never understood why you’d want to hide the lights behind tinsel and baubles etc. But this year, I tried a different method, almost creating my own pre-lit tree which made more sense, especially without the hefty tinsel.
It felt like I had infinite baubles which I love as you can never have too many baubles to choose from! The gold baubles came with string already attached, which made me immensely happy as that’s pretty uncommon, the red baubles string unfortunately wasn’t attached, which as you know is the most time consuming part, but I got there in the end! The range of glittery, shiny or matte shades are beautiful, if you know me, you’ll know I’m a sucker for all things sparkly so the glitter ones are my favourite!

Lastly, instead of finishing with a cherry on top, I had a bow instead! Which lights up, I repeat, it lights up! It’s battery powered so I wouldn’t switch it on everyday, but it looks just as gorgeous switched off due to the mains powered fairy lights illuminating through the red bow! And voilà, my tree is complete! I’m still deciding on whether to place a fairy or star on top, decisions!! But until then, the countdown for Christmas has officially begun in my household!
Thank you very much again to WeRChristmas, for gifting and supplying the best tree design guide!

Yessssssss!😃
We observe remembrance day in England too on the 11th, which is immensely important.
A little tree in the corner brings some light to the winter days, which can only be a good sign, surely?
Nooooooooo! You shop on the 24th of December?!🤯 Is that grocery and gift shopping?! I can already tell that you loathe the holiday season by the last minute, rushed acknowledgement alone! I’m surprised you don’t start shopping on 26th of December when the sales start!🤣😩🤍

The café at Christmas time by Walter
Look Jean, what do you think of my new hat?
Is it not gorgeous, with its butterfly veil?
Got it in the Christmas sale,
Ouch! Agnes, you have gone quite mad,
Since they gave you that new plastic card,
But Jean, why must you be so mean,
Just look outside at the Christmas scene,
Outside the café the Salvation Army band played,
The songsters sang, of the newborn babe,
Jean, would you just listen to that din,
Wouldn’t be so bad if they could sing,
Anyway, why do they have to bring,
Religion into everything?
Sorry for taking a swipe, but what happened to Christmas?
