3 Easy Steps To Sweat-Proof Makeup For Summer !

Scorching weather and makeup, are not a match made in heaven. Makeup melting, becoming oily or patchy and even sometimes barely having any evidence of it being applied, is one of the most irritating things that can happen. It’s time wasting and can be a confidence blow. But how do you lock your makeup into place?

Prime Time: Primer is one of the most effective ways of helping the longevity of makeup, especially in certain weathers. The primer basically clings to your foundation, making it very hard for it to wither away. Imagine it being a sort of velcro but, the beauty version! A couple I recommend are the ‘Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow’ and ‘Benefit POREfessional’. The Wonderglow primer gives the skin an amazing glow but not a tin-man one! It’s like a inner glow coming out, but the only way I can describe it is like a muted liquid gold. You see the luminosity of the formula and it just awakens your skin. Quite a light formula. The Porefessional is also just as great, as it smooths and fills in pores and fines. And bonus, it’s oil-free! I use them both for different reasons, I concentrate the wonder glow more on the high points of my face, and use the professional mainly for the T-zone.

Powder: A great powder can be so beneficial. It might be the most important step! Especially setting everything into place. One of my favourites is the ‘Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder’. It’s very finely milled and works on all skin tones. It helps to keep everything as, and where you applied it. Meaning you’ll hardly ever need to touch up!

Setting Spray: This is one of my favourite parts! When you’ve worked hard perfecting your makeup and this is the last bit *sigh of relief*. It’s so important to set your face as it truly locks everything down into place. This is perfect for hot days; a night out partying; even going swimming! Some of my favourites are ‘Mac Prep & Prime Fix+’ and the ‘Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray’. The Mac Fix+ Spray I’d recommend to someone who’s sensitive to smells and doesn’t like any prominent scents in their spray. It’s a lightly formula and it helps with longevity. It makes a noticeable difference. And is a very refreshing mist that you can use before AND after makeup! It primes and sets in one! For a heavier stronger setting spray I’d recommend the Urban Decay All Nighter. It has quite a potent scent but once you get over that, it really holds your makeup. Day and night. You could even do a marathon in it and I’m sure it’d hold up! It claims to keep your making looking gorgeous for 16 hours without melting, fading or settling into fine lines.

Prices: Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow Face Primer: £39.50 ($55) 40ml. Benefit POREfessional Face Primer: £28 ($32) 22ml. Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder: £30 ($39) 29g. Mac Prep And Prime Fix+: £19 ($27) 100ml. Urban Decay All Nighter Long Lasting Setting Spray: £24 ($33) 118ml.

  1. Antonia, that’s great advice. I generally don’t wear any makeup when it’s too hot but I’m going to try your recommendations. Thank you.
