My Secret Driving Pleasures and Regime – I Can’t Be The Only One?

Your car’s your own personalised space. Inside, away from onlooking eyes, you lead a different life. Eating cereal, driving barefoot, shaving even, I’ve heard them all; I’ll clarify I haven’t done either of these three, scouts honour! What does your double life look like? Ignore my messy bun, my car’s used to this by now!

I’m not going to lie, I may look like a different person. Change of shoes? Tick. Change of jacket as I like to feel free while driving? Tick. My hair messily claw clipped so it’s out the way, saving never-ending knots and friction against your seat? Tick. Old trainers you learnt how to drive in, with questionably odd socks? Tick. Am I properly dressed when leaving home for the outside world? Of course not, that’s what my car’s for!

Mr Bean, getting up late for the dentist, brushing his teeth gif.

I don’t know how some ladies do it. How could you ever drive safely in heels? Or flip flops even, I’ve only done that once coming from the beach, it was ridiculously restrictive!

A non-negotiable for me though, is eating in the car. I know, I’m a freak. I can’t bear it. Why would you want to make your interior oily and more filthy for you to clean up?! Yes, I may get fully dressed in my car, it has darkened out windows, but eating food should be a crime. Especially greasy / excessively crumbly food… It makes me nervous! I could spend that time getting dressed!

What are your driver guilty pleasures? Does your alter-ego have a name? Trust me, I don’t think any of us can judge! If our cars could say one thing, it’d be “Catfish!”. Comment below your driver secrets!

    1. Congratulations!! That’s a huge deal, I got mine 3 years ago and it really does change your life for the better. Haha I must admit, I only messily claw clip my hair and change into heels and other things when I reach my destination. I’ve seen people do all sorts in real life though. Eating apples, sandwiches and cereal! I don’t know how they do it, it’s difficult enough driving!

Aw thankyouu so much Katherine, for reading and commenting!🤗🤍

      1. It is, but it was difficult. I don’t get to drive as much these days, but I remember it fondly. Regarding the shoes, I could only drive better with one pair of shoes; the other pairs would either slip or hit the brakes improperly. Food and other distractions were not allowed. This is why I said you were brave 😅.

Of course, thank you for sharing! 🤍🤗

  1. I must confess I’m rather mundane and boring when it comes to driving a car.

I do none of the stuff you mention.

When it comes to flying a World War I aircraft like a Sopwith Camel or Fokker Triplane however, that’s another story.

    1. No way did you?!😂😂 how often did you used to collect all the rubbish at the front? Annually when your MOT was due?😂 my relative used to throw chicken bones out of the window WHILST DRIVING. Driver’s can have the most peculiar habits/tendencies!🤦‍♀️😂 driving brings out the worst in us hehe.
So sorry to hear about your congestive heart failure, hope you’re doing okay now and not accumulating the old junk food bags at the front😃.

      1. Had to change my ways and for other reasons had to stop driving. A shop doing some work on the car cleaned it out for me—it hindered their work—and I was able to keep it clean till we sold the car. I did keep my chicken bones in the center console and tossed them out later.
