NARS Cosmetics Au Soleil Face Set: The Review!

Eyeshadows and bronzer tucked away in a compact palette. New travel buddy?

For a weekend getaway, sometimes all you want to pack is a few multi-functional beauty products. That’s where this baby comes into her own. Originally from NARS’ ‘Bronze Voyage’ Collection, think beach and mojitos. The rest of the collection includes an array of products including oil-infused lip tints and an additional face palette with pink hues. So envision hitting the beach, with just your concealer, lip balm and palette in hand. Minimal products are so appealing, compared to the excessive luggage I usually drag along!

First Impressions: It’s a bronze-based palette, so we’re off to a great start. No hot pinks or vivid colours I’d hardly ever use on-the-go. Are brands actually listening to the consumers?!

Palette: I LOVE the packaging. I’m not going to lie, the front cover is the only remotely exciting thing the exterior has to offer. Without the stark 3D effect, you’d be rummaging through your makeup bag constantly. The three eyeshadows are all buildable shimmer, with the bronzer having a slight satin finish which can be used as a warm transitional shade in your eye crease. For extra colour pay-off, I apply the shimmers with using my fingers – 1) it’s free 2) it’s like natural MAC fix+ in your fingertips. That’s probably grossed you out, hasn’t it?

Mascara: Mascaras aren’t all that different, but the brush/wand that applies the formula to your lashes are. Large and fluffy brush like this one is beneficial for your upper eyelashes, not so much your lower baby lashes as it may feel a bit bulky to reach your finest of lashes. Mascara is entirely a personal preference.

Final Thoughts: Perfect for travelling, the NARS Au Soleil Face Set is compact and lightweight enough to fit in your handbag. If I’m staying home, I probably wouldn’t reach for this palette regularly. I have similar eyeshadow shades in bulkier palettes I own. Primarily a go-to palette on your travels, you’ll wonder how you lived without it!
