Free Contraceptive Pills – Curbing Population, Without Clarification?

Now, there’s no excuse. No GP appointment needed. No cash needed. Our worth is now penniless. But we still must pay for our mensural cycle essentials. Why is care free sex now more accessible and encouraged than supplying products for menstruation?

Millions of women will be able to get free contraceptive pills on the high street without having to see a GP under new NHS plans. Starting next month, women in England can obtain a first prescription of the pill by visiting their local pharmacy. Yes, it’s as easy as that, or that’s how it’s being marketed…

Say hello to the modern era – in England anyway. Empowering women, choice, contraception and most of all, the government narrating you or your families life more than ever. It’s an incredibly difficult time to teach your child values, morals and decorum, when she could go into a pharmacy for sanitary towels or tampons for example, and leave with a free goody bag including the contraceptive pill. What are we endorsing? That we can have sex, and control when and if we ever wish to procreate. I didn’t realise we could switch our hormones on and off like a light switch. If this isn’t AI for our productive system, I don’t know what is.

Sex is a choice. As humans, it doesn’t naturally just happen. It takes two to tango, ordinarily it’s a mutual choice to engage in sex. So these new plans from NHS England isn’t a preventative method for an uncontrollable, incurable health condition for example. And the natural condition that majority of women face monthly, we must fund ourselves like it’s a choice, problem or fault. Let’s say I’m a 40 year old virgin, I’d be furious having spent thousands accumulatively in my lifetime, seeing women walk in and out smiling, carefree with a repeat ‘free prescription’ for the free pill. How is it a necessity? Why are we funding adults private sex lives? Is this what we pay our taxes for?

We need a reality check. There is no method which leaves you in the 100% clear. Feel free to tell me I’m wrong, but if you’re reliant on the free pill for example due to purse strings being strained or maybe you are financially comfortable but simply not ready for the additional costs a child brings, is it worth it playing with fire? If you’re not ready for the slight potential risk of falling pregnant whilst taking precautions including the pill, it’s also a wise thought taking a break from being sexually active to gain clarity on what you envision your future looking like and what you want. Of course abortion is always an option dependent on where you live in the world, but often the experience isn’t one a woman happily opts to do. It can be an emotional and physical rollercoaster, for some it’s just a blip, for others the feeling and memory doesn’t ever leave them – similar to grief.

I do believe, women should be more informed on the what if’s rather than the here and now. Moments come and go in a flash, and some don’t even know their stance on abortion until they’ve fallen pregnant which can then leave you feeling stressed, anxious and trapped as you’re having to make life changing choices after the event. It’s important knowing the pros and cons, risks, benefits, possibilities and possibly trauma that could await, stemming from sexual intimacy. Sex can have a knock-on effect, almost like a mutation. Your stance or assessment of situations you’re in are ever-changing. It’s important to always evaluate, observe and be prepared for what may happen as it’s very easy to get caught up with the ease of accessibility and common practices of societal agendas.

Critique, research, deliberate and make an informed judgement which is right for you. Time is on your side, whereas a 9 month countdown can feel like a pressure cooker you didn’t switch on.

What do you think? Do you think the pill should be free? Do you think it’s right to prioritise the waiver the expense of prescription fees to be sexually active? Do you think the pill should only be prescribed by a GP? Should the cost of menstrual products be prioritised so there’s no longer an expenditure? Comment below!

  1. I Love this post. Thank you for a clear opinion on this matters. Everything is so cool and free and what’s not these days I feel like we are no more slow sliding down but now already down and are poured with all this stuff that hurts us more in the future than we think. Women are been told to use their bodies as they want forgetting that our bodies tell a story. Free sex, free contraceptive pills, free things without reasoning causes consequences that actions cannot curb. Pray we see it the good way and one post at a time and changes might come

  2. Good Morning Everyone 👋. How are you doing today? I literally love this post. The reason why I love it is simply because it places emphasis on Women’s Healthcare. They need to write something about men’s health as well. Although condoms are readily available in the United States particularly in the Dayton Ohio Area. At 5 River’s Healthcare in the Dayton Ohio Area. Ohio is in the top 10 states for teenage pregnancy in the United States of America. God Bless You 🙏🙏🙏. Please pray for this world because we are living in the last Days.
