Lunar New Year 2023 Beauty: Pink Eyes and Red Lips Makeup Tutorial!

Ringing in the Chinese New Year; pretty in pink enriched with ruby red, to celebrate the Year of the Rabbit. My chubby hamster cheeks are finally thriving! For 365 days…. Let the countdown begin!

The Chinese new year annually calls for one colour to signify this celebratory holiday. Red. More is more in this department. Being beige, hesitant to stand out is unheard of. Go red or go home! All products mentioned are listed and linked below!

For this look, I used only one eyeshadow palette – Huda Beauty The New Nude Eyeshadow Palette. Beautiful array of 18 colours, all consisting of pink undertones. I thoroughly enjoyed creating this eye look as you can make it your own with such a vast range of nude shades you could use from any palette you own. No need for a step by step guide, even for a novice. As long as all the colours you apply are blended using an eyeshadow brush, it looks like you’ve spent hours on it! Fastest makeup I’ve done in a while as I wasn’t creating perfection, just art. Makeup looks that bit more magical when it’s unintentional.

Applying eyeliner is optional, I applied a thin layer to my eyeline, I chose black – Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in ‘Perversion’, but brown is more natural if you’d prefer, if any at all. Then I chose to take a brown eyeliner (same brand in colour ‘Demolition’), applying it gently to my lower waterline. Adding slightly more definition.

For lips, you can use anything! According to your skin’s undertone and how vibrant you’re feeling. You can go full pink with a hint of red; a coral red; or a deep rich crimson red. If you’re feeling creative, mix all three together! I used Mac ‘Brick’ Lip Pencil and Mac ‘Russian Red’ Matte Lipstick. I then dabbed a touch of any nude/deep rosey/beige lipstick shade to the centre of my lips, topping the red. Finishing with any pink eyeshadows you used on your eyelids, applying that to the centre on your lips. Odd, but trust me it’s transformational. And voila!
