Truth from Fiction; Believe to Deceive. Are You A Passenger In Your Life?

You can’t ever be in the mind of others. Intentions, hormones, characteristics are just a few that goes into what tale we tell. End goal: depending on your depiction of the storyline you masterfully carve out.

As life goes on, it increasingly becomes shorter or at least that’s how it feels. We all have the same hours, minutes and seconds in a day. Whether we’re 5 or 55, but the countdown rapidly soars due to the mental narrative that we’re edging nearer to our natural ending. Your judgements, assumptions and intuitions become all the more sensitive to what’s worth your energy and time. For example, the older we get the less time we spend nonchalant in the gym or calling our friends for hours on end. Places to go people to see, prioritising relationships to maintain so the current lifestyle remains.

We particularly hone in on loneliness. Wanting at least a companion to moan about everyday intolerances too. And to bypass the time of course. But without evidence, what is the relationship based off? Words.

Words are powerful. Without words it can be incredibly difficult to communicate. Equally, how much do words mean? Depending on the value you enlist onto it, really can shape the trajectory of your life. You’re at a crossroads, which way do you go? Humans are a living, breathing sat nav; guiding you to your destination. Entirely dependent on where they foresee the completion of your journey.

How much control do we have in our own lives? You can only practice optimal control if you’re a lone wolf. Or you’re exposed to manipulation and indoctrination that can ever so gently sway your impartial compass.

Close eyes for one second. What was the last choice you made not only for yourself, but without any additional exposure or relation to another being?

Yes, we control our lives. But do we exercise it to the best of our ability? No, as along the way we encounter fellows and depending on their independent concurrent narrative, it can bring an opaque cloud jeopardising your path in life and your inner guide. On the other hand it could potentially optimise and jumpstart opportunities that once seemed almost delusional.

Truth or fiction is yet to be determined until you complete the present chapter in life. Then in your post evaluation, only you will recognise the significance between fact from fiction.

One way ticket or a return? You decide.

What goes into making that call? Look around you to establish if you’re the puppet or puppeteer of your life. After all, life is short so make your life complete how you see fit.

What do you think? How do you evaluate truth from fiction? How easily do you trust words rather than actions? Are you a driving force in your life and/or others? Comment below!

  1. I have definitely found that life makes more sense looking at different seasons, or chapters of life retrospectively. I think this is one of the reasons people are sometimes drawn to nostalgia…it (falsely) promises us control via an apparently objective assessment of our lives…but I don’t think we can ever be purely objective. It’s just that when we consider the previous “chapter”, things come into focus a little more clearly than they ever do “in the moment”…Just my thoughts though…

    1. Most definitely, Jason.
In the moment you can get caught up in the novelty without question whereas the past generally is where lessons lie. The present is only here because of your past, it’s helpful to keep note of the past to have a clear view for the present that leads to the future.
We sometimes get caught up in nostalgia as a comfort blanket when it may be more progressive to not repeat past experiences.😃
