Wrapping up and hibernating like a hedgehog is how we tend to get through sickness, rainy days, emotional trauma or simply low days. But I have just the recipe to get you feeling like your normal self in no time! Hey, I wouldn’t mind a patio heater over here!
The infamous Bridget Jones granny pants have been whipped out the drawer. Ice cream defrosting in under 10 minutes; movie; comforting documentary; reality tv binge on demand and all the snacks till your comfort eating tummy is content. This is one of the best ways to take your mind off of any life’s struggles or simply escapism. Your phones switched off, takeaway ordered, if this isn’t heaven well then I’ll have to deliberate the conditions!
There’s nothing wrong with some me time. Being rushed off your feet for any reason can leave you feeling overwhelmed and overstimulated. The best days are the ones where you don’t have to think, talk or organise anything – apart from some much needed TLC treatment of course. Mani’s and pedi’s are a delightful way of feeling yourself again. Whether you diy or pop to a nail bar with the girls, indulge in your comforts.
When you’re over a secluded MIA day, treat yourself to a nice cut and blowdry, highlights or new hairstyle, spring is the time to go lighter if you’re brave enough. But make sure you’ve thought long and hard about it, regrets about hair could be irreversible!
Have a catchup with the girlies either in a cosy hoody or by getting glam for an evening out. It’s impossible not to have a little giggle at some stiff dance moves you may encounter – it’s part of the fun!
Now this might be an unpopular opinion, but organising your makeup and clothes. Hear me out, there’s nothing worse than feeling meh or like the world is on top of you whilst having makeup and clothes not in their right places. It not only helps clear your mind, it also clears and organises your environment for getting ready.
A country drive with the music all the way up or a scenic getaway as a mental and physical break away from the hustle and bustle that awaits. Equally, shutting off from the world for a day or two can help put stresses into perspective resulting in clarity and feeling freshly revitalised. Like a walking, zesty citrus!
A good skincare routine, nighttime routine and getting those 8+ hours in is key to optimal health. Practicing good hygiene and keeping your environment clean can really help reset the mind. We’d all love to stay in bed wouldn’t we, but there’s nothing better than fresh crisp cotton bedding helping you feel brand new like hotel bedding.
A candlelit therapeutic bubblebath just before a restful nights kip, what’s more to love?
What do you think? Do you like hibernating every once in a while? How do you like to indulge? What’s your perfect night in? Are you a staying in our going out kind of person? Comment below!
Being retired, I do what I want so staying home is my happy place. But, getting out for some photos and seeing our beautiful mountains is always fun. ❤️

+1 on organization. No one wants to clean up and sort out their stuff as relaxation but a tidy, functional, visually pleasing environment is a massive quality of life/mental health item. All of those little moments of frustration when failing to locate something add up to the detriment of your well-being. It’s work, but you’re worth the effort!
